VOLUNTEER

There are many ways you may volunteer at the food pantry. Whether you have an hour or a full day, any amount of time is helpful!

Volunteer

  • DISTRIBUTION DAY: 2nd and 4th Tuesdays, 10:30am to 2pm
Distribution day is a fast-paced, all-hands-on-deck, wonderful day of working alongside others and helping to distribute food to our community in need. As families and individuals arrive, volunteers are needed to:
    • Sign in new guests and update files for previous guests
    • Pack and distribute food
  • PICKING UP FOOD
Local grocery stores are ready to donate food that is approaching sell-by dates. You can help by picking up that food and bringing it to the food pantry. Valid driver’s license required (1 – 2 hours).
  • PRE-PACKING BOXES
Dry goods need to be boxed prior to each distribution day (2 – 3 hours).
  • CLEANING AND STORING
Once sell-by dated food is brought to the pantry, everything must be cleaned and stored ( 1 – 2 hours).
  • CHECKING IN DONATED ITEMS
All Incoming food must be checked for expiration dates and separated ( 1 – 3 hours).
  • CLEANING AND ORGANIZING
All refrigerators must be cleaned and organized once each week (1 – 2 hours).
  • CLEANING AND DEFROSTING
All freezers must be defrosted and cleaned once each month (2 – 4 hours).

Pray

Dunn United Ministerial Association believes in the power of prayer. We invite you to include our Food Pantry and other DUMA endeavors in your conversations with the Almighty God.

Spread the Word

Tell EVERYONE! With increasing needs as our community grows, we are now distributing more food than ever before! Raising awareness of needs is the first step toward making positive change in our community.

Donate

  • Food
As simple as it sounds, food is the #1 need in our effort to address hunger! We are always in need of items to distribute to hungry folks. Donating doesn’t have to be complicated – just grab a few extra items when you’re at the grocery store, place a collection box at your office breakroom, or set aside space at your church. Whether your donation is a one-time drive or an ongoing effort, all food donations are welcome – and needed! Make plans now to donate food items through your church, your workplace, your civic group, your family – the list goes on!
  • Financial Giving
In addition to food items, DUMA has many needs that require funding. Water, electrical, supplies, and specific food items are just a few ways your dollars are used. You may give by mailing a check to DUMA or you may donate via PayPal HERE
  • Grocery Bags
We use many plastic grocery bags to distribute vegetables, meats, breads, and more (please do not send bags that have held meats as the liquid can contaminate other food).
